Providence Los Angeles Reviews

Chef Michael is as talented as we had heard. We indulged in the lavish tasting menu and added on the caviar service, which was incredible. The blini’s were by a landslide the best I’ve ever tasted. Every single dish we tried was delicious. The bread service had the best butter, kind of grassy yet so creamy, amazing. The seafood dishes were true to the hype, prepared perfectly with a beautiful blend of flavours. The service we found to be a bit pretentious which is really unnecessary and detracted from the fun. We shared a bottle of champagne which paired nicely with each dish. Met the Chef on our way out, which delighted me to be able to compliment him. His food was worth the hefty price point. Next time we are in LA, would be an honor to return.

Providence was an excellent experience and we'll definitely be back. After seeing the Michelin review we decided to finally give it a try for a special birthday dinner. We were very impressed with the service, drinks, decor, and food. The menu has traditional French fine dining charm without feeling stuffy or dated. We opted for the Dine LA menu (one of the smaller offerings) so that we could add on their specialty dishes not included in any of the prix fixes. I would definitely recommend that strategy, as the specialties were incredible, but I don't think you can go too wrong. Our favorites were the uni egg, sashimi of the day, Santa Barbara spot prawn (pricey for one prawn but delicious), and the chocolate apricot dessert. The salmon main dish was the only disappointment, but was not terrible - just a bit dry. The sides for both mains (salmon and duck) were a bit lackluster but didn't detract from the meal. Overall Providence definitely earns its stars, and is a great experience for a special occasion.
