The Rooftop by JG Los Angeles

Rooftop by JG is part of the Jean George family of restaurants and never disappoints. Located on top of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, this restaurant has 360 views of LA and in my opinion is the best vantage point you can get in the city. This is a special occasion spot for me and I have done lunch, dinner and brunch here and always enjoy it. The service is top notch and the menu has something for everyone including caviar crispy fries. Great cocktail and wine list too. On this specific visit, we had brunch and kept it light but enjoyed the Cesar salad, burrata and pistachio guacamole that comes with chips. Portions are good for a restaurant of this caliber and the food comes quickly. The ambiance is fun and classy with good music that does not take over. The crowd is diverse and often dressed to impress which makes for amazing people watching. You will definitely see celebrities from rappers to real housewives. Valet is available and validation provided.

I had the Lobster Burger with Gruyere cheese and green chili dressing. I chose the Broccoli and Kale salad instead of the French fries that came with it. For drinks, I chose the Cucumber and Mint tea. All very delicious. My husband chose the Truffle Cheeseburger with brie, yuzu pickles and truffle aioli. He opted for the Heirloom Tomatoes and Basil salad instead of fries and ordered the Blackberry Tea. His food was delicious as well. We shared Lemon Almond Cake with glazed apricots and apricot sorbet. Yum. All in all, a relaxing lunch surrounded by stunning views and perfect weather!

Stunning views and great service. We came here on Monday around 5pm without making a reservation due to being unable to reach them over the phone, and were offered seating at the bar. Most tables were empty, but supposedly reserved, because by 7pm they all filled up. For dinner we had grilled octopus that my boyfriend enjoyed, sushi, that were uber fresh and absolutely amazing, and a lobster burger to share. The latter was a huge disappointment in my opinion. To me it tasted like a cheap diner crabcake with the wrong sauce and gross white lettuce. Trust me, it's not worth $46. Sushi on the other hand I would totally recommend. We also had cocktails, and I wasn't impressed with my raspberry Bellini, but to be fair I'm not a drinker. It just sounded so good on the menu, that I ordered it with a request for light champagne. My boyfriend's sangria was better in my opinion. I'd love to come back to this gorgeous place and try other dishes.
